DEVELOPING FILM NEGATIVES & MAKING ENLARGEMENTS

1.  Prepair Chemicals That You Will Need:         T-Max Developer, D76 Developer, Mix 1:1 With Warm Water,  Activate Stop Bath, Fixer.          2.  Load Film Onto Reel In Total Darkness, Seal In Tank, Rest Can Be Done In Room Light. 3.  Mix D76 & Water ( 1 Pkg. Of Develpor To 1 Gallon Of Water ) Adjust To 68 Degrees ( Very Important On Temp ) Pour D76 Into Tank , Agitate Constinly For 1 Minute Then every 30 seconds for a 12 minute time limit.                 4.  Pour Out D76 And Add Stop Bath. Agitate for 30 Seconds And Then Pour Out. ( Can Be Reused ) 30 Second Time Limit.                       5.  Pour In Fixer, Agitate For 1 Minute Then Every 30 Seconds For a 4 Minute Time Limit.   6.  Pour Out Fixer ( Can Be Reused ), Run Warm Water at 68 degrees for one half hour then take out and hang up to dry. After Hanging For A Few Minutes Run The Strip Thru Your Fingers To Squeegie The Extra Water Spots Off So The Negative Is Spot Free.



 

 

 

MAKING AN ELARGEMENT & PRINTS

Prepair 3 Trays In Tray #1 Put Developer D76 At 1:2 Ratio At 68 Degrees. In Tray #2 Put In Stop Bath, And In Tray #3 Add Fixer. Select A Negative And Insert Into The Carrier Into The Enlarger, Elmusion Side Down ( Dull Side ). Place An Easel On The Baseboard With The White Sheet Of Paper. Open The Enlarger Lens Aperture To The Brightest Setting ( 3.5 ) . Turn On The Enlarger Lamp & Focus Image With Focus Knob. Raise & Lower Enlarger Head To Change Size Of Enlargement. Move Easel To Adjust Position Of Image. Close Down Lens Aperture To F/11.  Make Test Exposure By Exposing 5 sections of the paper at 5 second intervals. Develop In D76 ( Tray #1 ) For 90 Seconds. Remove Then Put In Stop Bath For 30 Seconds Then Remove And Put In Fixer For 2 Minutes. REMEMBER THIS IS ALL DONE IN TOTAL DARKNESS !! Then Remove After 2 Minutes In Fixer And Wash In Sink With Running Water For At Least 4 Minutes To Get All Chemicals Off The Print. Then Eveluate The Print or Test Strip. Expose Final Print For Time Indicated On Test Strip. The Print Should Look Like A Picture Should Look. The Total Cost For All 3 Chemicals Will Run 25 To 30 Dollars For A Lifetime Of 15 Days For The D76 And 30 Days For The Stop Bath & Fixer.

Equipment Needed For Developing

The Equiptment For Doing Darkroom Work Include :  Darkroom Sink, 3- Brown Glass Gallon Jugs With Caps, Film Roller & Tank, Trays, Easels, Rubber Tipped Tongs, Enlarger, Sharp Sissors, Safe Light, Measuring Cups, Timer Or Stop Watch, Hot & Cold Running Water, Small Hair Dryer For Drying Prints And Negatives.
