BASIC DARKROOM DEVELOPING STARTS HERE

Hi, I am Jim Duell From Perry, NY. I am a vivid photographer using both prints and digital formats. I started taking pictures back in 1972 just after joining the Perry Fire Department and now have a great selection of 35mm and digital cameras. I use all Minolta Brand Equipment starting with my first XG-7, Then soon after that came a new XG-A, Then a new X-700, Then a new 5xi Auto Focus that the fire department purchased for me in 1993 with a bundle of goodies with it. In 1998 I purchased a new Kodak 210+ Digital while I was working at Kodak and in 2000 I purchased a new Kodak 290 Digital while still working for Kodak. In 2003 I purchased a new Minolta Maxxum 5 35mm camera and in January of 2005 I purchased a new Konica Minolta 7D DSLR Digital Camera. I Have had a darkroom in the basement of our fire hall but, the village needed the room for something else and tore out my darkroom.

FILM & DEVELOPING

When it comes to film I have a selection of mostly 400 speed film which is a much faster film when shooting at night. I use mostly Kodak but, sometimes I will use the green boxes if I need to or run out of yellow boxes. I keep about 50 rolls in the fridge most of the time. I will be using it up at the different festivals that we attend during the summer months. When I get the film processed I usually take it to Kmart and have them all done. If its Black & White I will develop my negitives and print out enlargments. Check out my Custom Page for developing instructions.

PERRY TOWN HALL FIRE

This is the former Town Hall in Perry that was destroyed by fire on January 28, 1983. The cause was related to a faulty electrical panel box in the basement.

Beginning Photography Tips
Make sure you have the correct film for what you're trying to do. For example, 400, a faster speed, is more suitable for action shots than 200. To become more of a photographer than a person snapping pictures, do some slightly different things with your composition. For example, try placing subjects off-center, using natural lines or frames, or taking the picture from a different angle.
